Sort Food Donations: Group Volunteers

Groups of up to 15 people from any organization, business, social club, or family and friends are welcome to take advantage of team building while helping those in need in Anne Arundel County. We need group volunteers to sort canned food and produce/perishable foods for distribution to pantries and on-site feeding agencies. (Occasionally groups are also needed to assist with Mobile Food Pantry distributions.) Morning and afternoon volunteer shifts are available Monday through Friday in two shifts: 10 am to noon and 1 pm to 3 pm. Use the group volunteer interest form (button below) to let us know about your group and your desired day of volunteering (please let us know at least 4-5 weeks in advance).

Sort Food Donations: Individual Volunteers

Individuals are welcome to come in and join other volunteers on our sorting line to sort canned food and produce/perishable foods for distribution to pantries and on-site feeding agencies. Morning and afternoon volunteer shifts (10 am to noon and 1 pm to 3 pm) are available Monday through Friday.

PLEASE NOTE

  • All volunteers must register for their desired time shift (no walk-ins). A registration link and calendar will be provided after completing the volunteer interest form.
  • At this time, we are unable to accept court ordered or pre-trial community service volunteers.
  • Sorting line volunteers must be willing and able to abide by instructions given by AACFB staff.
  • Individual volunteers must be 18 years or older and physically able to stand for two-hour shifts as well as bend, stoop, and lift at least 20 pounds repeatedly and frequently.
  • Working on the sorting line requires that a volunteer be able to read and interpret packaging labels and dates. The ability to use sound judgement regarding personal safety and the safety of others is essential.
  • Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes. No shorts or tank tops.

Updated policy for minors

  • The Anne Arundel County Food Bank is no longer able to accommodate school-required service learning hours on our sorting line. Students can fulfill service learning requirements by hosting a food drive.
